WHAT IS COR?
COR stands for Certificate of Recognition, and it is a certificate that is awarded to companies who are successful at achieving and maintaining a standard of safety set out by a number of certifying partners within each province.
WHY DO I NEED COR?
COR puts you in a select group of companies within the province. It allows you to work for companies, organizations, and governments that you could not otherwise. Many companies now have a firm policy that all their contractors must have COR. In other words, you need COR if you want to work for them.
CAN I HIRE A CONSULTING COMPANY TO HELP ME GET COR?
Yes you can. We, at Western Safety Consulting Inc., pride ourselves on being experts in providing this exact service. We have refined the process of developing and implementing individual safety programs to an unmatched level of efficiency. If you would like to learn more about how we could do this for your company, please call our office and ask to speak to an Advisor (780) 449-6867.
DOES COR HAVE ANY OTHER BENEFITS?
Yes, earning a COR actually allows you to get a refund (5-20%) through WCB as part of the Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR) program.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO BE AUDITED TO MAINTAIN MY COR?
You will need to have an External Audit conducted once your safety program has been implemented and you have sufficient documentation built up. Once you have successfully obtained COR, you will begin an auditing cycle where you will have an Internal Audit conducted each year for two years followed by an External Audit on the third year to recertify your COR.
